Privacy policy
What this site collects, why, and how to reach me about it.
Effective date: 2026-09-16
Who runs this site
Coding Blind Tech is a personal site run by Keith Blackwelder in the United States. If you have a question about your information, use the contact form.
What I collect and why
I keep this short because the site collects very little.
Reading the site
When you visit, Google Cloud records the pages requested, visit times, your IP address and browser information. I use these records to operate the site, prevent abuse and understand overall traffic. Traffic summaries contain daily totals, not individual visitors' IP addresses or browser information.
The site does not use Google Analytics, advertising tags or additional tracking cookies or scripts for these summaries. YouTube embeds are explained below.
Contact form
The contact form collects your name, email address and message so I can acknowledge and reply to you. Resend delivers the emails. I also keep email delivery information, including bounced messages and spam complaints, to resolve delivery problems.
Your IP address is used briefly to limit repeated submissions and reduce abuse. Retention of messages and email copies is explained below.
Accounts
Accounts use your chosen display name, email address and password to provide sign-in, email confirmation and password resets. Passwords are stored as hashes rather than readable text. I also record when you accept the terms and confirm your email address. If likes and comments are introduced, they will be associated with your account.
Resend delivers account confirmation and password-reset emails. Copies are retained as explained below. Your IP address is used briefly to prevent repeated sign-ups, but is not stored with your account.
Video embeds
Some posts include a YouTube video. The player loads from youtube-nocookie.com, which is YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. Loading the player connects your browser to YouTube. This mode limits how video views are used for personalization; it does not mean that YouTube receives no information. YouTube may show non-personalized ads in the player. Google's privacy policy applies to its handling of information.
Cookies
Reading public pages does not set the site's own cookies. The contact form and account sign-in use a necessary session cookie to protect submissions and keep you signed in. It contains an identifier, not your message or email address, and normally expires after two weeks. Signing out ends your signed-in session.
YouTube embeds are a separate service, as described above.
Where your information goes
I use Google Cloud to host the site and store site data in the United States, and Resend to deliver email. Embedded videos connect to YouTube as explained above. I do not sell your information. Information is shared only as described here to operate the site, or when required by law.
How long I keep things
- Visit records: 30 days.
- Daily traffic totals: normally 90 days; cleanup delays can extend this period.
- Original contact submissions and bounce or complaint records: eligible for deletion after 90 days. Removal can take longer if routine cleanup is delayed.
- Outgoing email copies, including message content, recipient addresses and delivery history: no automatic deletion schedule.
- Accounts: kept until you request deletion. Accounts with an unconfirmed email address are deleted after 30 days.
- Mailbox correspondence and backups may remain after an original contact submission is deleted.
Your rights
You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Use the contact form and I will respond within 30 days. That includes deleting your account: ask, and I will remove the account and everything stored with it. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent me information, email me and I will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When the site gains a feature that changes what it collects, this page is updated and the effective date changes. The current version is always at this address.
